New Balance is a great brand. Most retail stores have a
Procare Fit Specialist that help you find your perfect pair of shoes. Since I am clueless about running shoes this was extremely helpful. They recommended this shoe, MR850, because it's designed to accommodate moderate to severe overpronations (aka "flat feet").
So, Rule#1 for beginner runner's: Get the right shoes. Investing some money into good running shoes can prevent injuries (be prepared to spend about $100). Once you have them they should be good for 300-500 miles!
